Puliyoorkurichy(TN), (BIJ News) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack..

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack at the BJP and RSS, and asserted that the party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is also against the "hatred" spread by them in the country.

Addressing the media here, the former Congress president, who embarked on the over 3,500-km-long pan-India foot march that kicked off from Kanyakumari on Tuesday, said, "This yatra is an attempt at understanding what is going on in the country. It is also an attempt at 'undoing' some of the damages that the BJP and RSS have done."

He also urged the entire Opposition to come together for the 2024 general elections.

"For Congress, this yatra is to connect with the people. It is against the ideology of the BJP and RSS which divided and spread hatred in the country," he said.

The Wayanad MP also said, "There are two visions of India. One vision which is rigid, controlling and another vision which is open minded. This 'battle' will continue and we are playing our role."

"The BJP has taken control of all the institutions of this country. They have inserted their people in most of the institutions and they pressurise through them. You know the role of the CBI, ED and IT department how they deal.

"We are not fighting any more a political party. Now, the fight is not between one political party and another political party.

"Now, the fight is between the structure of the Indian state and the Opposition. This is is not an easy fight," he said.

The Congress also accused the BJP of dividing the country along religious lines, state lines.

"For me India is a conversation between its people and that conversation has broken down under the ruling dispensation. So, if conversation has broken down, India has broken down. That conversation needs to restart," he said.

Asked about BJP's comment that is a 'Parivar Bachao Yatra', the Congress leader said, "Everybody has an opinion. The BJP and RSS have an opinion. They are welcome to have an opinion. They have a view. They are welcome to have a view."

"Whether I become president or I don't become president it will become very clear when the presidential election of the Congress takes place. Wait till that time. If I don't stand then you can ask me," the 52-year-old MP said on being asked about party's forthcoming presidential polls.

He also categorically said that he is clear in his mind about the party elections and there is no confusion.

In response to a question on 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress leader said, "Its the responsibility of the entire Opposition to come together."
