Schaan (Liechtenstein), (BIJ News) India long jumper Jeswin Aldrin won the Golden Fly Series.


.India long jumper Jeswin Aldrin won the Golden Fly Series Liechtenstein athletics meet with an 8.12m-jump.


Aldrin was the only athlete to leap over eight metre mark on Sunday. It was the first time since April he crossed the 8m-mark.


Czech Republic’s Radek Juska, who registered his best jump of 7.70m finished second. Henrik Flatnes of Norway came third with 7.66m.


Another Indian in action Praveen Chithravel was last in the four-man field with a personal best jump of 7.58m.


The Golden Fly Series athletics events are held in cities in an attempt to bring fans closer to the action. Only long jump and pole events are featured. The next stop in the series will be in Thailand in December.


Aldrin, 20, had pipped national record holder Murali Sreeshankar to win the Federation Cup in April with a wind-assisted 8.37m jump and got qualified for the world athletics championships. However, he was snubbed from the Worlds squad initially due a dip in his form.


He was asked to appear for the two selection trials in July. Though Jeswin Aldrin failed to cross the 8m mark, and was selected for the world championships after producing 7.99m and 7.93m jumps.


Making his debut at the world championships in July, Aldrin finished 20th in the 32-man field with a best effort was 7.79m.
